Symptoms of a Sewer Line Problem

    Last updated 9 months ago

Your sewer line is the most important component of your home's plumbing system. It should be regularly inspected by a professional plumber, and if you suspect a problem you should have an inspection performed immediately. It's a good idea to familiarize yourself with the signs that can point to an issue with your sewer line, so you can avoid major problems or service interruptions in the future.

    • Slow Drains: A problem with your sewer line will cause slow drainage throughout your entire house. A single slow drain is not necessarily cause for concern, but when this occurs in several areas in your home, it can point to a blockage in the sewer line itself.
    • Frequent Backups: Your toilet or kitchen sink may occasionally experience backups, but recurring issues can point to a problem further down the line. Because all drains terminate into your sewer line, a blockage located within causes repeated problems that aren’t solved by plunging the affected drain.
    • Odors in the Home: Your home’s drains are fitted with specialized piping called traps to prevent sewer gases from entering your house. However, leaks in your sewer line can cause odors outside and inside your home. Chronic odors indicate that you need to contact your plumbing company.
    • Localized Lush Areas: Sewer line leaks can cause the area surrounding the leak to grow exceptionally well. A tree that suddenly appears to be doing very well may have sent its roots into a leaky sewer line. Soggy spots are clear indicators of leaks somewhere under your yard or property.

Peter Levi Plumbing, Inc. can help identify problems and perform the appropriate sewer line replacement or repair. Homes with older clay sewer lines are ideal candidates for sewer line replacement. Learn more when you visit us online or call (415) 814-6900 today.

What Homeowners Should Know about Sewer Lines

    Last updated 9 months ago

Because it’s buried deep beneath your home, it’s easy to forget about your sewer line. However, if your sewer has not been previously inspected by a professional plumber or your home is more than four years of age, it's time to schedule an inspection.

In this video, you can learn how older sewer lines can present problems with tree roots and leaking, even in some newer homes. Tree roots can represent a real challenge, because if they are pruned back they simply grow back stronger, thicker, and in greater numbers. It’s a good idea to have a professional plumber inspect your sewer line and replace it if necessary.

Peter Levi Plumbing can provide you with a quality video sewer inspection to spot any problems and get them repaired. Contact us at (415) 814-6900 for more information.

    Breed: Border Collie Mix
    Gender: Male
Age: 1 yr. 1 mo.  Birthday: 7/2011 (est)
    Weight: Medium (30 - 60 pounds)
    Milo ID: 17636
    Current Location: The Milo Sanctuary

Waylon is a beautiful and gentle little guy who we pulled from a kill list at a local shelter when he found himself there as a stray. He is very sweet but is a bit shy at the moment as he is still confused as to why he is not back at home with his family and the life he knows. Sadly, as happens all too often, he waited for them for the four days that the shelter will hold dogs for before putting them to sleep, and they never came. He gets along very well with other dogs and will be a wonderful addition to a family. We will update his bio as he settles in and we get to know this pretty boy. How Air Conditioning Units Suffer without Routine Maintenance

    Last updated 9 months ago

Your air conditioner requires regular care in order to operate at maximum efficiency. When your air conditioner is not maintained, your temperature is less comfortable and your bills are more expensive. Your HVAC company should perform annual maintenance on your air conditioner at the very least, otherwise you may encounter the problems below.

    Decreased Efficiency

You may not notice it immediately, but every year that your air conditioner is not maintained, it can lose 5 to 15 percent of its overall efficiency. This can result in a gradual increase in your utility bill until you're paying far more than you should. If your air conditioner is not properly tuned, it consumes more energy than is necessary to provide the same level of cooling.

    Frequent Problems

Air conditioners that don't receive annual maintenance can encounter problems more frequently compared to well-maintained units. They may leak refrigerant, slowly losing cooling effectiveness. Air filters that are not changed can compromise airflow and indoor air quality, making your A/C work harder. You may experience service interruptions during the hottest parts of the summer.

    Shortened Life

The end result of a lack of proper maintenance is an air conditioner that is problem-prone and works too hard while consuming too much energy. This drastically shortens its life, decreasing the benefits you gain from investing in a quality A/C unit. Eventually, you will have to replace the unit with a new one.

By taking good care of your air conditioner with annual tune-ups and quickly addressing problems with your professional HVAC company, you can enjoy peak efficiency, smooth operation, a long life span, and a high level of comfort. Peter Levi Plumbing, Inc. performs routine air conditioning maintenance and can help your air conditioner stay in great condition for many years.
